Hmm. Starts slow, but once I got into it it really hit me hard.

It seems like there’s a common theme of… sort of… feelings of uselessness, I suppose, but something beyond that, that I see in much of your writing. I’m missing the precise word, but there’s a very interesting sort of sadness tomost of your more interesting characters.

For the record, I’m loving this war-era superhero stuff (and, for that matter, most of the rest of the stuff on the site). That being said, there’s one moment in this story that strikes a discordant note with me.

“We tore into the krauts like men possessed. There was no snappy jokes, no epitaths for freedom.” That seems a little overwrought for a voice that speaks mostly in period slang, and takes note of how fast people read. Maybe it’s just me, but that choice of language struck me as a bit ornate for the character.

Then again, maybe I’m not giving Torpedo enough credit :)

Spectrum was a recurrent guest star in my own major Superguy stories. Heck, if I ever get around to finishing “There Are Those Who Call Me Bruce,” you’ll see some Spectrum there. Assuming Lawrence is still okay with the guest shot.

Granted, on that mythical day we’ll also all have ponies, but still.

Lawrence “Amigoid” Brown does Spectrum (of the West Coast Defenders). It’s one of the “long tail” stories on Superguy, you might even see another installment of it come out at some point.

(As for me, the same storyline that killed Crazy Guy kinda killed Exarchs too when I tried to pick it up, although there was some aiding and abetting by a crossover stall-out. :) )

I remember the Diamond story from Superguy and I think I vaguely recall this one as well. Though for some reason I thought both had been written by whoever wrote Spectrum. Can’t remember the Author’s name now…
