She comes off a bit young to be someone who’s been field leader of the Justice Wing for going on ten years now.

According to the story, she looks about thirty.

Enh, I don't mind the drawn out dangling so much, I think in the case of the Silver Agent it worked out quite well (particularly once you realize it's not done yet, see the latest Dark Age comic if you haven't already, it makes it more obvious why people keep referring to him that way).

Now the dangling story that did get drug out too long and then beaten into an ugly pulp once they finally touched it was the origin of Wolverine.

But Eric will do better than that, I'm sure.

Freya's story will come out sooner rather than later. Possibly as soon as "The Death of Paragon," possibly in a followup to this post.

Freya herself might appear soon. I have an Origin of the Lieutenant story burning a hole in my brain, and she and the Centurion both figure prominently in it. The question is, do I write that side-adventure first, or do I write about the time Lady Velvet used Paragon as a weapon against Nightstick, Cudgel and Shillelagh....

Gonna have to be careful with Freya, lest she become a "poor, doomed Silver Agent" (or worse yet, a Black Dawn), where the answers are dangled before the reader for so long that no possible story can live up to the anticipation.

After all, we don't need people writing Freya fanfic to try to explain things, do we? (Injoke explanation: back in the mists of time, Eric wrote a Black Dawn fanfic. Which we can't find a copy of anywhere now, unfortunately.)

Mason: I don't know. Depends when she manifested. And remember, she's explicitly younger than most of the heroes, and became field leader within a year through talent. (Arrowhead calls her "kid," after all.)

Her questions to both Refraction and Elle suggest she has a, so to speak, semi-professional interest in supervillainy. Yes, I realize that such wouldn't be uncommon in congoers, but it's data. Her knowledge of details, while again not uncommon in fans, is more of the same. I can buy it, also, as an answer to the question how heroes feel about these cons.

I checked, by the way, and the Beacon is defined as black-haired in the Prologue. That would be consistent with Latina coloration. (Not to stereotype, but if the Beacon was a redhead, I'd count that as evidence against.)

and Freya– yes? You have a question?

That's twice we've gotten the Freya backstory cut off. We know she did something that the world "hasn't forgotten," and which Paragon's casual superiority might echo. Did she go a bit too far to the Justice Lord (well, Lady) side?

She comes off a bit young to be someone who's been field leader of the Justice Wing for going on ten years now.

Which doesn't make it wrong, of course. Metas often have a timelessness, especially females. And if she can manipulate how she looks (and being a Lady of Light, it's certainly possible, isn't it?), well, all bets are off.
