About

Banter Latte is a blog devoted to the fiction and poetry of Eric A. Burns. The A. stands for Alfred, for the record.

Burns — which is to say I — am best known for Websnark.com, a blog I and Wednesday White writes essays, commentaries and personal rememberances for. Along with little bits and pieces of things. Banter Latte is meant to cover the areas that Websnark doesn’t in my writing. The stories, the vignettes, things that flash through my mind and want to be commited to the ether.

Banter Latte is also a testing ground for stories meant for later publication. As a result, some posts are locked behind password barriers. This is a fairly weak protection, as this is meant more to keep the post out of search engines (and to blunt the claims that the story was ‘previously published’) instead of protecting it from prying eyes. Registered users of the site can request the password and get access to all protected posts.

The name “Banter Latte,” in the case of my stories, is merely descriptive. At some point, in pretty much every story I write, people will end up sitting across a table and drinking beverages while they talk. More often than not those beverages are caffeinated, though that’s not a hard and fast rule. I’m relatively sure that if I ever wrote a story about the crab people of Arcturus IX, sooner or later the Crab People would show up at an indy coffee shop and order Double Tall Mochas so they could bitch about their Crab Wives.

Eric Alfred Burns — which is to say me, myself — is a writer, poet, essayist, role-playing game developer and critic who lives in New Hampshire. In my day job, I work as a systems administrator for a curiously unnamed private school. I’m best known for Websnark, a cultural, pop cultural, critical and commentary based essay blog that ranges from discussions of video games to web comics to occasional bits of science to the odd personal reminiscence or seven, which I created and which Wednesday White and I shepherd along. Said Ms. White is also my fiancée, which makes me luckier than anyone else I know.

In addition to blogs and a fiancée, i have a Honda Civic and a domestic shorthaired cat named Seraphim Kyriotate, called Sarah K., just plain Sarah, “little girl,” or “Jesus — would you get OFF THAT!”

Though I do enjoy a good scotch more than most, my drinks of choice tend to be coffee (of many types), tea (of many, many types), and Propel® brand fitness water. That stuff is like grape or black cherry flavored crack, man.
